Association takes part in 1st Dundee Pride

Updated: Sep 23, 2018

The Scottish LGBTI Police Association joined thousands of other participants to mark the first ever Pride parade to take place in Dundee on Saturday 22nd September.

According to astronomers, today was the last day of Summer and the Sun didn't disappoint. It also marked the first ever Pride event to take place in Dundee, the City of Discovery. Association members attended from all across Scotland and from as far away as Thurso, to be present.

The parade began at 12:00hrs and made its way around the city centre. A large and supportive crowd of locals lined the streets to cheer and wave as the parade navigated its way through Dundee's main shopping district.

This event also marked the first time that the Association has officially taken part in a Pride parade outside of Edinburgh or Glasgow. We have supported other Pride events in Scotland this year with a stall including West Lothian Pride, Pride Glasgow and Dumfries Pride.

Despite a relatively small contingent, the impact was huge, measured by the positive response our participants received from the public and Dundee's LGBTI community. We certainly enjoyed our time today in Dundee and hope to support future Dundee Pride events.

Our General Board are currently planning for Pride events in 2019. We hope that members will join us for what is an important and significant event in the LGBTI calendar.

Be You. Be Proud.
